Independent publishing. Compelling voices. Fresh stories
Freshwater Publishing brings together new books, authors and a growing backlist of publications.
The imprint’s first fiction title is Janita Cunnington’s The House Keeper — marking an exciting new chapter for Freshwater Publishing.
But the publishing story goes back further. Through Freshwater’s earlier literary agency work, it has been involved with authors and books over many years, while Straddie Island News has created an extensive body of journalism and community publishing centred on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).
Freshwater Publishing was created to bring books and other written works into the wider Freshwater story. It provides a home for original writing, locally rooted stories, novels, creative nonfiction, memoir, journalism and other projects that deserve to be developed, published and shared with readers.
Freshwater’s first book was the non-fiction title, To Hang Out the Washing by Joe Lake. The establishment of the Freshwater Publishing imprint now creates a dedicated home for a new generation of titles.
Freshwater Publishing is interested in fresh and distinctive Australian voices and compelling stories — books with character, a strong sense of place.
